Our team transformed a historic carriage house from a two-family residence into 10 affordable Single Room Occupancy units, providing much-needed supportive housing. The project included a full exterior envelope renovation, accessibility upgrades, and a gut interior renovation with new kitchens, bathrooms, living spaces, and full MEP system upgrades. Structural work involved replacing the basement slab, reinforcing the foundation, and adding major support, while site improvements delivered new utilities, paving, landscaping, and a 50-foot retaining wall.
Challenges & Solutions
The project presented unforeseen basement structural issues that required substantial upgrades, including installing large beams, reinforcing foundations, and jacking existing beams back into alignment. Tight site conditions also complicated logistics, but through careful planning and coordination, the team delivered the project on time and within budget.
