Crawford Street Renovation Boston, MA

Design By: Finespaces Architect LLC

At 123 Crawford Street, our team completed a comprehensive renovation of 17 Single Room Occupancy units.

Strengthening supportive housing and improving residents’ quality of life. The project modernized kitchens with new cabinetry, countertops, sinks, and energy-efficient appliances, while fully renovating bathrooms with updated plumbing fixtures, tile, lighting, and ventilation.

Additional upgrades included new flooring, doors, hardware, and energy-efficient lighting throughout, as well as targeted plumbing and electrical improvements. Building systems were enhanced with updated fire alarm and sprinkler systems, along with heating and ventilation upgrades for greater safety, comfort, and efficiency.

Challenges & Solutions

Renovating an occupied SRO required careful coordination with management and residents to minimize disruption. Work was phased strategically, with temporary facilities provided as needed.

Unforeseen plumbing deficiencies were addressed through full pipe replacements and line rerouting, while durable, low-maintenance finishes were chosen to withstand heavy use.

Through thoughtful planning and execution, the project team delivered safe, modernized kitchens and bathrooms that significantly improved resident comfort and building performance, reinforcing the property’s role as a vital supportive housing resource.
